Buildings account for 37 per cent of overall energy consumption. In fact, buildings and transport collectively emit 50 per cent of overall green emissions, participants in the Building Green CEE Energy Efficient and Ecological Design for the Region conference concluded at the opening panel on April 23. The twoday conference, ending on April 24, is taking place in Bucharest, Romania.Participants agreed that constructing quot;green quot; buildings is an essential element of an overall strategy to reduce growing energy consumption and greenhouse emissions, both identified as the main drivers of climate change.

Balchik wants to buy back land containing ancient temple of Kibela

The Balchik municipality has expressed interest in buying back the plot of land on which the remains of the ancient temple of Kibela the ancient goddess Cybele had been discovered. A buyback however, would take a significant chunk out of the municipal budget, Bulgarian news agency BTA quoted Balchik mayor Nikolai Angelov as saying.Angelov said the municipality had offered the current owners the chance to exchange the site for a larger plot but the offer had been rejected. The two sides could not reach an agreement about the value of a possible deal, Investor.bg said.

ING RED to develop mixedtype real estate project in Bucharest

Bulgarian construction control directorate to stop work at 7 construction sites

Bulgarias National Construction Control Directorate started procedures to close down seven construction sites following regular controls performed between January 1 and March 31 2008, the directorate announced on April 22.In addition, the directorate imposed 10 administrative penalties and issued two fines, Investor.bg said.
