New subsidiary to manage Bulgarian telco BTC real estate assets

BTC, the dominant Bulgarian fixedline telecom, will seek shareholder approval to transfer 100 real estate properties valued at over 281 million euro to one of its subsidiaries. The general meeting of shareholders is scheduled for September 23. Land plots near Sofia still increasing in value

The average price of land plots suitable for construction near Sofia has increased between 10 and 15 per cent since the beginning of 2008, Era Izida Properties has said, quoted by website investor.bg. Despite the abundance of offers, plot prices in nearby villages suitable for building summer houses and homes keep increasing. In the village of Rudartsi, near Sofia, for example, land sells for between 60 and 70 euro a sq m.

Winner announced in airport control tower design contest

A design submitted by the Bulgarian firm Arhitektonika Studio has won the competition to fashion a new control tower at Sofia International Airport. The company, 33 per centowned by Kalin Dikov, brother of Sofia city chief architect Petar Dikov, won the contest, which was organised by Bulgarias air traffic services authority, beating out two other candidates for the contract. Varnabased company Albatros Ve EOOD has erected the ground floor of the aparthotel Soley, which is the first concrete construction on the beach of the Black Sea village of Skorpilovtsi between Varna and Bourgas, close to the Stara Planina slopes.
